The journey from the Red Sea to Mount Sinai is filled with spiritual lessons for believers of all ages. Marah, which means "bitter," symbolizes the bitter experiences of life. After their miraculous redemption, God's people were full of praise, but soon they faced the challenges of the wilderness. Confronted with what they saw as another letdown from God and Moses, the people complained about the bitter water. After three days of expecting water, finding undrinkable water felt like an offense they couldn't tolerate (Ex. 15:22-24).
