2 Samuel 12:22-23
Grieving with Hope

After David's sin with Bathsheba, the prophet Nathan delivered God’s judgment that the child born to David and Bathsheba would die (2 Samuel 12:14). David was overwhelmed with grief and responded by fasting, praying, and pleading with God for the child’s life. He lay on the ground for seven days, refusing food, hoping that God might show mercy and allow the child to live.
